would you say that Macs are better for "CAD" like programs? ive heard thats one advantage they have over pcs, i dunno

IIRC the high end Mac uses a (or can use two) Quadro's. Which are primarily designed for CAD programs and video rendering, to increase quality and speed. For most applications the cost-performance margin is an obvious one, little performance for large cost. For personal use, you'll find it's not neccessary.
They may have a specialised CAD program, although if you're in the industry you probably already use AUTOCAD or similar and won't want to learn anything new.
