Re: Diablo 3 players
meh, not gonna effect me, just annoying how they think they can get away with it. Not their fault yeah if it's client side, but i've heard a few or so things about server side stuff that allows people to gain access to accounts and thats the stuff i have probs with. When it's key logging style stuff, well it's a hazard of them being one of the big guys at the end of the day... like when people moan that you don't get virus's on mac's and PC's have loads of virus's :E when one has a massive market share compared to the other, why would they make virus for the small guy. I stand by that Blizzard could be doing more from their end, but i like how they have been doing roll backs on accounts that got hacked, more than some would do.

I'm wondering if Blizzard stole your ice cream Nagash.
"how they can get away with it". It's an additional service, it comes with a fee, in regards to account security, it is left at the discretion of the gamer. The service is there and pushed there because it is more secure, it does add an extra safe guard and it is recommended, not created in to a necessity.
The hate against subscription fees? They can be seen as an unnecessary evil or a necessary profit float. MMOs have huge bills, I for one would not like to know the server hardware costs, the electricity bill, the internet bills etc. associated with them because I'd go ... "WHAT THE FUUUUUUUU" if they came through my door if I were a business. Every company needs profit to live, MMOs in particular are made differently for many a reason including longevity, maintenance of hardware and software, customer support, site integration, bandwidth of login servers, game servers, file servers, web servers etc. It's a huge list, of which I will imagine I and others are not aware of some if not a lot of that list.
There are some MMOs that are 'free to play', they make a lot of money by restricting the game to a subordinate level to those that are willing to pay in the way of a subscription fee or via micro-transactions to get their regular game. There are MMOs that charge a subscription fee, there is the odd rare MMO that tries to propel itself as a regular game. All of these have downsides, the first leading to fractured playing, the second leading to higher monthly costings, the third leading to high debt or lack of content compared to competition. Equally they all have advantages, the first being you have a huge user base to tap in to and work on via marketing, with a high net income, the second being high net income with the ability to rapidly expand and keep up content, the third being you can reach more players who have tighter incomes and are more willing to buy expansions to add majority of content.
MMOs all have different styles of play, they all have different degrees of content, the companies all have different degrees of income from their games and this is a reflection in their ability to keep their content and MMO going and to then progress forward with different games and expanding their original series. Hating one out right, questioning it completely is likely to stop you from ever experiencing another game in the future with the same sort of style, which you might actually have loved had you given it a chance.
Stop hating on business <3 Start loving the games <3
PS. If you have or know of anyone that has or is likely to obtain a GW2 trial, I'd like to request you throw it up my alley as I don't want to commit the money to it. <3.

Re: Diablo 3 players
I'd love to because I've read up on the new game mechanics they've introduce and the fancy pants new graphical engine looks lovely. Although, with new stuff comes the ability to fall flat on it's face or not be for me (EVE and Aion for example), so I'm cautious on buying new MMOs. I was also in the Star Wars beta and wow, just wow I couldn't believe how rushed and awful an experience it was for the player. If GW had a better control system and UI, I'd have played that and not thought about GW2, so I can still buy yet, I'm just being a namby pamby about it. <3Kop wrote:u should commit the money, GW2 ftw
