Not really - I never seem to have any free time these days / would like to tinker with web design/coding again.
She's fine plodding on.
Hehe, sometimes I think I still am 15 and then I have to pay a gas bill and reality comes back with a bump.
What're you doing these days? Do you still have your studio?
cool news.
i changed into an IT person doing servers and networks and helpdesk for a council, the council then shared me with another council and i became the web developer for both: http://www.bromsgrove.gov.uk http://www.redditchbc.gov.uk
then got involved with 4 other councils for some new websites and then some more websites using PHP rather than ASP.NET
i still look after servers too and networks and run Wireplay CSS where me n MadGeorge run several linux boxes that webfusion host for us to use for Wireplay (though me n george bought em).
Changed to IT as i got married and was away loads. I am now divorced and still in IT so life rolls on....
I remember when,
i started with cic, 1st game i was into was UT which with OMH (old man hagon) we set up a cic-ut division. It went for a while and then was buried under TFC. So i started playing tfc , was good ole fun until Cable internet decided to roll out cable/broadband. Then my spy's modem antics couldnt keep up even with the custom configs, so i took to the HW. Eventually though all the people had the cable broadband except the area that Cable internet started in, Preston. So there i was lagged behing everyone else with a +120 or so ping vs the 20 ping players and i was sort of redundant.
No use sitting in a pipe waiting for a medic or scout to show when they are already there and you just are to slow (in more than one way ) to see them. So i was relegated to the CiC chat room and as cannon fodder in the practice sessions. Slowly i got picked less and less even for the practices so i Eventually and slowly faded away. TBH i went and spent some time sulking and moaning about the injustice of it all (to myself) And eventually got broadband about 16-24 months after the rest of the civilised world. And cable internet became Blueyonder. I started playing Jedi knight and JK2 and even played in some competitive matches and such. In the end that went its way and i was tempted by the devil that was WOW. time came and went played WoW EVE, Warhammer, rift, Aion, SWG lotro etc etc. I missed the wholel guild wars 1 but im waiting impatiently for GW2. So hope to see you all there. That and the friday night funfest. btw if you were wondering about this rant , i noticed that not everyone knew anything about who i was as a gamer and rather than create a new thread ,seemed this place was sort of right.
Strange i don't remember it being like that....
I do remember several people having cable before me and the day i went onto a 20 ping and thought it was the best day ever.
I didn't really pick myself for matches after a while but back in the high TFC days we had a huge squad and its weird we never thought of having 2 squads???
We did have several other squads over time - UNF (TFC for UT) CSS DoD and all sorts, i think the trouble for TFC was that spies became less used over time and HW's needs conc aim and that tended to require a low ping and also as per normal for CiC we got a little serious at times and forgot who we were and then would fall apart a little and rebuild with some core friends and loads of newbies around us.
i can only think of a couple of people who were ever excluded from CiC over the years and tbh most people got lives and stuff made them wander off a bit and pop back over the years.
too much history to remember for my brain to cope with
i didnt mean it to come across as hard as it looks. i should go back and add some smilies. The only person i blame for anything is myself.
too many years and too much history, you see this is what happens when you have those two youtube videos on the front page The 2 memory cells that havent been killed by the beer fire off. and i remember the cic irc room having 30/40? plus people in it at once and only eggbot ?
bah the cells are going back to sleep now.....need more beeer!!!!
we used to have 75+ all the time in #cic
i didn't think you were harsh but its always interesting to see how people either "taint" or "bias" their memories or even just see things from a different perspective which only you can know.
personally i remember when my PC broke and for 2 months i couldn't afford to get another one. in that time Won disappeared for Steam (hence my steam ID being higher than expected) and CiC winning Div2 without me being part of it - a real kick in the teeth for me.
Div 2 thing was awesome, but yeah it got a bit hardcore and when your involved in the first team you sometimes forget the people who feel left out and neglected. Every game is the same. I had it on WoW a bit for raiding teams and it sucks! But the good thing is we have so many people still keeping in touch after all this time, so that says something about this place And although he will never admit it, it's because of ned and the fact he was open to new, fresh players (he likes them fresh!!) and bridging the gap and keeping the old fossils involved as much as possible. Difficult task which most fail at tbh and as ned said some don't have the time to put in online as things evolve in life but you can still come on and have a laugh and feel part of something!
Jesus I typed more than 5 words in this reply wtf! help!
