Stealing taking theft or just loot

Post by billy3c »

Hi guys,

I little note on stealing and theft and the boundaries of taking stuff. I have looked through the notice board and see some posts on people taking things, but no clear definition of what we find acceptable.

I would expect the following but would like advice.
I would expect:
No taking of stuff from camps or marked camp boundaries (buildings and wired areas).
No destruction of camps etc..
This includes vehicles and tents in the immediate area of the boundaries.

What is not clear is tents, open/unlocked vehicles and gear in vehicles outside of camps.
My view is these are all open access and should be treated as such?
I have some storage tents around the map and would not expect them to be secure.

What are the mods/admins view on this? I dont want a ban before I start
Please advise.

Cheers
Billythefish

btw I lost a key to my truck anyone able to get me a new one?

Hi Billy,

If its within someones base I feel taking equipment is stealing.

If a tent has been randomly placed in an area the owner should realise there is a high chance of theft.
If a vehicle has 5 or more items it is claimed but as above for the inventory.

I feel its not hard to make lockable bases or purchase locked vehicles to stop casual theft.

If someone is going round and deliberately stealing items and cars for easy cash, or exploiting nebs with no money I wouldn't be very happy, but on the other hand, if the person that is losing gear had been on for a couple of weeks, I would probably advise them to get locked equipment.

In my option admin are to help with bugs and player vs player problems, not spending hours looking through logs because someone couldn't be bothered to make any money to buy equipment.

The biggest problem was people stealing the loot from missions because they didn't realised they were being done.
Hopefully this is now stopped since I brought in the "Shout if you are thinking of doing a mission" rule.

Thanks for mentioning it mate.
Hopefully this answers the question :0)
