for those of you who don't know, or those that don't follow football that closely, if at all, Nottingham Forest had a new sponsor this season, which is Victor Chandler, and betting type business thing.
Not great news in itself, but then again, they just went and did something really stupid.
They have an offer on for every Forest fan who has purchased an Adult Season Ticket, in which they'll renew the season ticket for the 2010/11 season, FREE of charge. Only have to meet these requirements...
1) 1st Place Promotion to Prem
2) Signup on their website
3) Place a £5 bet with them
4) Do 2 & 3 by 20th Aug
And with Forests current signings and progress in pre-season (Beat Sporting Lisbon full strength team 1-0), promotion challenge isn't looking unlikely. Victor Chandler are set to lose an estimated £6mil gamble if Forest finish 1st, and this figure isn't taking into account the fact that alot of forest fans will just put £5 on forest to win the league. To say this is Victor Chandlers first step into football sponsorship, a £6mil bet is OMFG stakes... and this bet actually comes from the owner, Victor Chandler himself... crazy n00b
Personally i don't think we'll win the league, but lol if we do

tbh the fact u have said it here is why imo its a great thing to do, publicity is perfect and yea he will lose alot if they do win BUT im sure he will be closer to breaking even due to publicity, and then if they get prem then there name will be even more publicised, sounds like a win win situation to me
Goodluck with winning the league tho, i got a soft spot forest so would like to see them up

Re: Crazy Mofo's
yeah no doubt. it's 100% about publicity for them, cos like i say, it's their first venture into football based sponsorship, though it's a massive gamble still, because there isn't much return on it. chance are they'll get £5 per season ticket, which'll average £400 just over, there are cheaper ones, but thats prices atm, prem prices will prob average £450 just over, and even though it gets people signing up to their website doesn't mean they'll frequent back there. dunno how many places i signed up to to take advantage of an offer and then forgot about it.
Dunno if you heard of this previously though before me sharing it with these forums
but i've only heard of it cos i'm a season ticket holder for forest, so wouldn't say publicity-wise it's working yet, and doubtful we'll sell more tickets as a result of all this, but it'sreally nice of them to do it as it's doubtful any other sponsor would go that far... our previous sponsor Capital One were complete tards. They made it so that using a credit card would make the season ticket cost 10% more, or just 5% if you had a capital one card. yay... a credit card company making it so you have to pay more for using their own service.
