Article about DayZ
http://www.ibtimes.com/dayz-standalone- ... 14-1605270
ok article but the below quote is what matters because it hits at a proper release date and that they are moving game engine
“DayZ” is approaching 2.5 million units sold and sells between 3,000 to 4,000 copies per day. Hall added that he feels the game will be complete by the end of this year and is moving the title over to a new game engine, called enfusion, which enables DirectX 10 and 11 graphical effects and will improve the game’s mechanics significantly.

Just switching the engine won't make it a better game. :3 The mod still is way better.

nah, switching the engine will make it a much better game than it is now, and would also make it better than the original since zombies won't be able to run through walls and generally just shove there balls in your face before they eat you.
naturally the original mod is better at the moment purely because it has vehicles and storage, but the standalone is better in so many ways... if you mean something like Epoch or Origins though... nope it's not close to better than that, but they are mods of the mod so it's a completely different game.
The estimated release of the game properly and not just alpha/beta is at the end of the year, and i'm sure thats when mod support will start coming out for it

Hmm thought I read that it won't come out(full release) in 2014.

they can't do an xbox or ps release without a full release... it may be like a minecraft full release where they just say "this is our full release" but still keep adding stuff etc. Would surprise me alot if they didn't full release in 2014 though because they doubled the amount of coders recently just to get the zombies working properly, and so once thats done those coders will be assigned elsewhere and the game will just get built way faster.
it's in their best interest to get it released fully tbh, since i can see their fanbase dying off quickly if they don't, since there are many other similar games coming out that are being developed way faster and with less staff, the engine is whats slowing them down tbh and once thats replaced it'll be hard not to work at a faster pace.
