minecraft is a sandbox game, where you can do as you please really. you can mine... craft.... (obviously :D) and a whole bunch of other stuff. Like you can build a house out of resources you pick up, and there's no real limit to what you can make. well the "limit" you have is that everything is blocky... but what do you want from a game thats a 250kb download?

at the moment, the game is so popular that their website and servers can't handle it... so much infact that the verification doesn't work, and on the login screen, you just click "ok" instead of entering a username and password. The fact that valve once announced it in a TF2 blog post didn't help :D. But it's way past that happened and well everythings broken at their site, so they are calling it a "Free Weekend" event :D

Chances are it's going back to the way it was run before tomorrow... but maybe not.

if you wanna try out the game, get it here...

http://www.minecraft.net/

Start off by finding a tree, knock it down and get the wood resources, make a pick axe, and then hunt for coal, build up your resources, and then do what you like.

here's a crafting guild
http://www.echidnatribe.org/Minecraft/c ... php#armors
mouse over images to see what they are.

you'll need to build a crafting table to make some of the larger more complex items. add 1 set of plants to each square in the standard crafting area.... and afte rthen u can make pickaxes, swords, etc.

The difficulty comes during the night. This game is essentailly a survival game. Why get res and build a house? Cos at night the zombies come out and try and each you, thats why :D. Before they come to get you though, you can cage yourself in a mountain by breaking the rocks and putting rocks in the entrance... careful though, green zombies explode.

This might also be a good game to play as a group, as with the multiplayer, someone can host the world and everyone can play in that world. I've not played multiplayer yet, but thats what i understand it to be like... so if people like the game, maybe ned will host it ;)? The games currently in alpha stages though, so multiplayer is bugged apprently, but worth a play, and maybe there's a cracked version so we don't have to pay for it ;) i dunno, but meh, for now try the game and post here your thoughts

would be more fun if was just cic :D. from reading that wireplay thread, sounds like people get extra resources and can be out in an area that can be untouched by randoms, and sounds kinda like cheating just to do well, but might give it a look.

I'm actually hosting a server right now, if anyone wanna join.

109.67.49.232:25565

Minecraft is awesome.
I didn't buy it yet, but since the authentication servers are down right now it's pretty much free to everyone til they fix it. I'm probably gonna buy it when it's back on.

I played it before and thought it was awesome but not good enough to spend money on it.
But then survival multiplayer came out, and now it's just so much fun.

Send me a message on Steam if my server is offline

would be kewl to get more people into playing this.

i tried your server Tomeron, but i spawned in rock or something, as i couldn't move or do anything. I got crushed while mining once in single player and got the same view, but in single player u can die, and not in multiplayer, so instead i went on the wireplay server with Emmz. Started to build a house near the start area with her, after we got lost in a mine and I had to dig my way out, which unfortuantly was under the ocean, which proceeded to flood the mine a little :D

was good generic fun and would be good to get a cic server going with some CiC ppl.

once they fix the game, would it be worth purchasing? depends how much it is since they removed all that information, but it's definately worth the price of the usual cheapo game u'd find on steam

:( minecraft is back online now, but now will be able to play it a bit better as a result, plus sounds and music will be back etc.

it costs 9.95 euro, which is £8.67 atm, i bought it as it's a pre-release price while the game is still in alpha stages. once full release it'll be 20 euro.

here's a few samples of the game to see what you can do...

and seriously, this one shows just how epic you can get, but at the same time, just takes the piss

this game is epic and it's only in alpha stages so far. they are also planning zombie sieges so that at night time, loadsa zombies come to attack u instead of just a few wandering around. and also they planning a ctf game mode :S so come on everyone, buy they game and join in the fun :D

well current people in the clan that have the game that i know of are...

Me
Emmz
Siege
Thal

i managed to convince Emmz to try the free weekend just before it ended and it seemed to get her hooked, and siege saw the game and got him hooked as well :D, i think thal already had the game. Would be kewl if more people bought the game also, and we got our own CiC server going... but a CiC server would be better once they add it so u can take damage, so it's more of a proper survival game

i also sense a new free weekend coming along, as their website is dead atm, and logging into the game takes an age.

may be getting this, i played a little during the free weekend and it seemed pretty fun. Not getting it till he sorts his servers out though, don't want something going wrong and me losing my money.

only seem to be able to buy it with paypal atm, i don't have a paypal account is it easy to use?

yeah paypal is simple enough, but i believe you can use a credit card through paypal to pay for stuff even without an account. if your thinking of getting though, i'd say to setup paypal now as it can take some time to get going due to the authorisation checks
