only 3 stars for me because...
of all the stupid lame bugs that have been programmed into the game that make gameplay extremely annoying at times. For every Elder Scrolls game, they fuck up the hud even more, especially the inventory, the morrowind version was fine.
Anyway, bugs i mean is like how they have the tool tip like things that tell you what button to press to do certain things... however these don't update if you change controls even slightly. Wouldn't be so bad but there is no "Drop Item" button to change control to, instead it's your "Ready Weapons" button that controls dropping, though there is nothing that tells you this. If like me you have side buttons on your mouse, and like the vast majority of players with side buttons, you like to have your ready weapons button on the side of your mouse... this will disable your ability to drop items.
Also, when i first ran Skyrim, it rest my deathadder mouse from desktop several times randomly, freezing up the game while it did it. I could tell it was doing this because i have my deathadder lights disabled... it was switching them on and offer in various patterns randomly while the computer made the disabled hardware noises.
Also, though my computer is capable of running the game in high settings and the game automatically set these settngs for me, it actually made it so that clickable options ingame didn't work. I had to use keys to toggle options. Once i turned the anti alaising settings down though, it worked fine after restarting the game.
Also the sensitivity mouse settings are retarted. The up and down axis are much heavier to control that the left and right axis. It's supposed to make it more realistic i suppose but it's just plain annoying as the view controls just seem stiff. This also effects non-view controls like in menu's. Dunno why you need to have slower up and down mouse movements while in menu's, but heh, you do apprently. My senstivity controls are set to max and it still feels heavy.
Also the way magic now works is totally messed up. It's like you better hope you want to be a non-magic based character, because there's no way to toggle the magic you use anymore, you need to keep stopping the game to select the magic you want to the individual hand you want to use it with.
There's much more as well, but all that being said, it's a great game once you get past the shit that's come from an obvious console port of the game. I've enjoyed it how i've found a fort and killed off all the bandits in there and claimed it unofficially as my residence, just wish i could fill it with npc's as that would be kewl. I would give it a 5 star rating, but it's undeserved due to the crap they've shipped the game with just so they could meet their 11/11/11 release date.
