hey, havin trouble booting windows at the moment.

i get to just before it switches to the login screen were it says microsoft and has a horisontal green bar scrolling, then it just goes black. mouse pointer is there and i can move it but nothing else. only way i can get windows on is to rebooot with system restore.

However if i try to run any system programs/tools such as msconfig/task manager i get a error saying
fle System error (65535) did a bit of searching for this error and I found that if irun a dos screen ad type sfc /scannow it should fix it, however i cant get it started in safe mode and in normall mode it wont let me do it in admin mode ( if that makes sense) any one else had similar probs?

Reinstall recomended

cant run chkdsk as it wont let me open command promt as administrator and says i have get the same error. You need to do this in vista. might try it in the command promt option with the boot disk see if that works .

you can get a selection of pre-boot tools like techies toolkit which can run tests booting from the cd, also there are quite a few manufacturers tools downloadable from their sites that can run before boot.
you can also get some bootdisks from bootdisk.com to give you a command prompt to run commands.
