Ask & Receive

Post by Direkneed »

So, this is fairly often on forum boards that those who offer multiple forums topics have a "Ask & Receive" topic running.

Basically, here a user can come and make a post either asking for something that is plausibly obtainable.

Demo:
Game can't install, can someone help?
or
File failed to uninstall, still "visibly" on my system and can't remove it.
or
Has/Is anyone selling/got a spare "something" that I could use/buy?

etc.

This way, for those who need help can come to one place for it.
Normally these topics can be resolved by submitting to the other forums with a topic written specifically for it, or a new post.
While it'll keep the forum nice and active, it'll also provide a friendly and helpful space.

It also have benefit on performance where a user can search one topic for previously asked questions and get answers without having to search the entire boards database.
This will get users to register more hopefully.
It's like "Ask" (the Yahoo sort of thing) without being replied by a kid and getting a good answer from a community you know.

As I don't manage a server no more and I mod the minecraft forums, I'd like to take some effort being active on the forums and sticking around so this thread will keep me here :D

go 4 it, i did put all my linux minecraft server scripts here to show what you can do and also will upload an account of managing multiple Valve games on a box with up-check and update scripts along with demo and log zip and upload scripts etc when i get a chance.
I will answer server/network questions as i do it for a living alongside programming in several languages including web based and application based things, from TCL to PHP although i am no expert i have got away with things for years! feel free to ask in the Help sections and we will do our best to answer anything.
Time for more game reviews and also software/hardware reviews and deals around the place - thats why the gaming news section also exists.
Real posts are NEVER spam - oh and find our Youtube channel too

Brilliant!

This being in the "General Chat" also is good because many new users who come seeking help often land in the first area. Having the moderator ability to merge topics with topics will give this thread a single use.

I can help with a lot of things, I'm often good with software, troubleshooting and a bit of that and there.

I think I got full mod on the forums but specifically mod Minecraft.

Might be good to have this kind of thing on a Wordpress page as well, then whenever u update it you could make a post on the homepage that directs people to that page.

Have the primary ask topics on the forum but write it up as a guide on Wordpress section of the site... The we can post it on google/Facebook/twitter to promote it... Good for seo etc
