Hi all :0)
Sorry I haven't been about lately, I have managed to pick up a trapped nerve in my right shoulder for the last few months which kills if in certain positions, unfortunately, keyboard and mouse is one of them.
Found this new up and coming game in development and wanted to share :0)
This game is being in released 2018 - WHAT 2018 - Yes but now is the time to give the team input.
This game has already been in development for a year funded by its own team.
They have now gone public (kickstarter) to speed up and enhance the process.
The kickstarter started on 01/05/2017 and today 03/05/2017 has raised $1,090,977
All the info below is pre-alpha and may change, but this is some of what I have found out:-
It's being made by a bunch of veteran gamers/coders: Interpid studios.
These guys have a history of developing AAA games:-
Planet Side
Planet Side 2
Call Of Duty
EverQuest
EverQuest 2
Vangauard Saga Of Heroes
Star Wars Galaxies
Xcom Enemy Within
The Game Basics
There will be only cosmetic items for sale in the cash shop (no pay to win).
It's a subscription game but you can get this partially or completely paid by receiving 15% of the cash that your recommend friends spend.
If you do want to sign up to keep an eye on this one please feel free to use my code: https://www.ashesofcreation.com/ref/Christhor/
There seems to be alot of interesting and unique ideas:-
Weather and seasons (4 weeks = 1 year).
Tamable pets and mounts (land and sea based).
Underwater environments.
Changing environment that will differ on each server (due to the nodes).
NPC's that will automatically spawn or move to populate towns as they grow.
Main and secondary class with merge of skill sets.
Dungeons.
Open world boss events.
Massive seiges.
Guilds.
Marriage.
Housing.
Player based economy.
Housing
At the moment there are 3 types of housing:
Build your own.
Buy pre-made in a city (this will increase in size when the city grows).
Instance Housing (Many people go to the same address, but the inside of the house will be set up to your personal choice).
Nodes
The map uses a node system.
When you gain XP so does the local node (XP Gained by: Fighting, Gathering, Crafting, Building, Exploring).
The node will start off a basic campfire and can grow to a massive city with perks.
Fighting
The group and dungeon events use the classic Trinity system (Tank, Ranged, ext).
At the moment its tab target hybrid, where you target your main enemy but can use a directional A.O.E.
There are 2 classes you can choose (main and secondary), the skill sets can combine using the 2 classes.
IE. If your main class has a skill "massive run then blade attack" and you secondary class has a skill "Teleport to enemy"
by selecting these 2 classes you can make a merged skill "Teleport to the enemy then do a massive blade attack".
This will make a hybrid skill tree depending on the 2 classes you select.
The PVE/PVP system is interesting too (Reminds me of SWG), there are 3 indicated levels.
1) You are flagged as friendly.
2) If you attack someone you will then go up to the next level and be flagged as PVP.
3) If you then kill someone who is flagged as friendly you then increase to the next level (king asshole).
When you are on the top level (king asshole), you will be shown on the map with a bounty on your head,
anyone can kill you with no penalty or change of state.
Each person you kill (when king asshole) your fighting skills will lower quickly and you will also loose a large amount of the gear you are carrying
if you get killed.
Crafting
Crafting is also based on a trinity system where you will rely on other crafters to make a certain part for the item you are crafting.
IE You want to make weapons so you skill up in Mining (gather metal based rocks) - Forging (make metal ingots) - Blacksmithing (make swords)
but you will need another crafter to make leather to wrap the handle (hunter - butcher - leather smith).
There is also a weight system where you will be limited to only carry a sensible amount.
Certain areas will have better resources or specialized markets (there will also be a player based economy).
To transport goods you will have to use a caravan system (there is no fast travel).
The caravan will be a mobile PVP area where any players that get within the radius of the caravan will be flagged for PVP.
Players can either protect (by messaging from a distance and joining the group) or attack the caravan en route.
You can hire also hire NPCs to protect the caravan.
If the caravan makes the journey all the protectors will be rewarded.
If the caravan is destroyed, it will change into a lootable container that only the attackers can access.

Re: Ashes Of Creation
It's pretty much a copy of Chronicles of Elyria but with less stuff and a heavy PvP focus
Might be good but when they start doing actual multiplayer stuff but since it's got magic in it i just see it being a case of spamming effects until you win.

The way the world changes when nodes change or die is what I like. Going to an area to find it has completely changed from the last time you visited. They have now started doing sea exploration and trade routes including underwater dungeons and treasure hunting.

Re: Ashes Of Creation
i think it'll probably be good but i have been spoilt by Chronicles of Elyria tbh, this game is clearly something thats trying to build of it's ideas etc.
I think you'll like CoE, it's main thing is that you are born and you die over the course of about a year, age up from young to old etc, and it's pay per lifetime instead of subscription.... so once you die of old age, you basically pay again for another spark of life and you take over one of your descendants, but your previous skills pass over.
It has no quests or resource nodes as well, because the players are the ones who live the world, you can be a farmer if you want and sell crops, or be a mayor and run a town, or build up to be the king of a nation. Also no NPC trainers, the players are the trainers, the players basically take over all NPC typical roles.... plus your character is online 24/7, so you have to make sure you go home to safety before you log off
it won't be out for quite a long time though, like this, so i'll probably post more about it on here when it's closer to release.

Re: Ashes Of Creation
What an interesting concept. When you say 'pay' do you mean real life money or in-game currency?
I was blown away by testosterone boosters pretty much immediately.
