OK before modding up the forums to do a few extra bits and pieces i am uploading a selection of themes for you to test out.
There is no auto-mod on this version so if we have 3 themes then each mod is installed 3 times, so as you can see has a lot more work.
Therefore i will be posting a selection for you all to comment on, they may not be quite right but the feel should be ok and thats what i want to here about.
Once we have chosen a standard and maybe 1 or 2 others then i will get onto modding the forums again.
cheers

Re: New Forums Themes
100x100 avatars though are good
. for other members it's set at 80x80 but for admins you can bypass that value, so is why it's different for you

Re: New Forums Themes
may look at tightening up the extrme red, it has too many gaps in between panes, a duplicated pane halfway down and i think the description should be on the same line as the forums name to make each section a little smaller, then look at maybe taming down the whites and also lighten the blacks.
i will do 100x100 setting on avatars now.

yeah, goes seem to be very image heavy that style, and the images are a bit chunky for what they need to be.

Re: New Forums Themes
something i just noticed on xtreme red is that in the bottom right corner of all pages it says "premodded". dunno if it says this in other pages, but just thought i'd warn you that xtreme red will probably be harder to mod because it's premodded and you may wanna watch out for conflicts here and there
also i don't remember the name, but there is an addon for phpbb2 (prob 3 as well) that allows you to generate the commands needed to do the addons with minimal fuss. when i had a phpbb2 forum, this cut a shit load of time out of upgrading and such, and i think it does all themes at the same time, or you just have to edit a few paths to state where the new themes are, either way, it may help you out if you can find it
, however, like i say, i forget the name of it
. i think it came with a free flagmod as the example addon though, so that might help with a search.

Yeh i know xtreme red may take considerable time to re-write, will see what people think.Nagash wrote:something i just noticed on xtreme red is that in the bottom right corner of all pages it says "premodded". dunno if it says this in other pages, but just thought i'd warn you that xtreme red will probably be harder to mod because it's premodded and you may wanna watch out for conflicts here and there

On php2 there was a mod system to install into all the themes (which worked on mods ritten to have this application use them and allso not 100% themes so about 60% of time you could use it) but as yet the new modX (as it is being called) is not finished so all mods are done by hand at the moment on v3.

Re: New Forums Themes
Avatar size is ok but max filesize of 12k sucks balls tbh. Any chance of increasing this x4ish?
