More of a support class, alot like the warrior class I think but seems to be able to give buffs and such to allies also.

Re: New Profession (GUARDIAN) revealed!!!!!!!!!
seems a combo of Warrior, Monk & Ritualist to me and can favour whatever type you want depending on the weapon you choose to have. some of the video's of skills look pretty good for this one, like i like the one where it reflects the attack and kills the person that fired it
.
was disappointed that they said they weren't doing a monk class, even if they changed it so it was more of a smitter and not a healer style, but this class looks like it'll make up for it. I think now the Warrior will be more of a brute force and tank style class, whereas this'll be more defensive and tactics. think it would be unfair to call it a support class though as all classes will have this interactability between other classes where they can combine skills, and all classes so far have abilities that can apply to allies. will be interesting to see how it all works out in the actual game and what the other classes will bring to the field.

Re: New Profession (GUARDIAN) revealed!!!!!!!!!
i did but i don't have power to move it
anyway, this class is being compared to that of a Paladin. In an interview someone at GW2 says it's best not to class classes in the typical archtypes because "every profession has its own ways to play the different combat roles". Don't know how thats relevent to it not being a paladin
, but i guess they know what they are saying and they just mean each class has several ways of playing it because of the different weapons and skills, and paladin's would have a more strict skillset.
they also got asked if mesmer was making a return. they avoided the question and said that this is the last "soldier" class, and there will be 2 more "adventurer" classes and 1 "scolar". I guess Memser will fit into scolar type cos they always have a more civilian look about them and taking mesmer out of the game as well as monk would be retarded.
guess we need to wait and see tbh.
i also get the impression that they plan to release a class type once every month. After that we'll get to the more nitty gritty details of the game. I'm looking forward to hearing about crafting, cos they said it's not going to be mainly combat based game and will be more like traditional MMORPG's, so their take on proper crafting should be interesting.

Re: New Profession (GUARDIAN) revealed!!!!!!!!!
just read in an interview that the Guardian was made when they were making the Monk, and it developed into that class.
they saying that the usual roles of DPS/Tank/Healer are gone, so the Monk had to develop and become this new class, but they are aware that the class description makes him sound like a healer, but there is no class like that. They go on to say that all classes are good against certain types of enemies, but no class is required to make a group good, cos they don't want it so that 6+ friends could all be Warriors, and then one is forced to rerole a character just so they could have a Monk, they'd rather everyone played how they want to play.
The types of enemies your good against aren't just going to be depended on types of dmg you do, like Cold dmg or Holy dmg or whatever, but the actual physical make up of the enemy. Like for example, Guardians would be good against powerful slow hitting enemies, due to armour and the fact that they can periodically absorb an attack (dunno details about that but sounds kewl) where as an elementalist would struggle, but they would be perfect against small creatures in large groups due to AOE attacks, and a guardian would struggle.
meh, gets me excited about playing this game when they release proper news about it, they should just release now to releave me
