PUBLIC SERVER... LETS GET SOME PROPER USE OUT OF IT.

Evening lads and girlies.

This post is mainly for NED. Tho you can all join in on this convo if you would like. I know some people are going to agree and disagree on this subject so please before reading have an open mind to this.

Some of the lads and girls in the community want to have 1 v 1 Dm practice. Well why not use the public server (Iced-Box) as a MGE Dm mod server. We can also install some Airshot maps and some jump maps. Lets do something for the clan that we can really benefit from. We all need to practice shot gun kills and rockets and demo pipes for when we enter leagues or just go to lobbies.

What does everyone think?

jump maps we already have on the server anyway so thats not a problem if you wanna praccy lemme know and i can at least sort that out, and i agree that the more practice we have the better we will be so up for it really.

As the server is multiplay i can only add mods which are in their list so i will have to check what is available. All the servers have the same maps on so you can change maps on all servers to the following list:

the mge_ maps seem popular for warmups and would be easy to populate the server, though you don't really need a big server for them, could always down grade the icebox to a smaller server that would be more powerful... or when it needs upgrading, change it for something that is smaller.

Think the main thing is to decide the theme wanted, 1v1 DM, air shot, jump maps, etc, for the map rotation. Can change to other maps, just best to have one theme cos then people who join randomly will more likely rejoin the server in the future if it's the same thing.

One thing the Ice Box has suffered from in the last couple of years is that members cba to join regular every day... no fault of anyone, we just never cba to fill it, thus it never gets a regular userbase. Though i suppose if we did a map rotation, or even one map that doesn't require loads of people, like 1v1 DM that people can use for warmups before mixes, then advertise it on ETF2L, it would be a bonus to the community. Maybe even advertise it as a Low Skill Practice Server... as it'll discourage higher skilled players jumping on it.

If it's something you wanted to take care of, promote and sort out, i'm sure ned would give you full admin on the server, as well as other CiC people who wanna help run it. We're a community but we don't really have a community server, or at least not one that gets used :D

yeah i would take care of the public server part of things if needed. I think the MGE server would be awesome for before and after practice. :D Ned lets see if we can have a word with the server supplier and see what they can do :D
