Anyone plan the upgrade this year?
I can't see much of an update for us PC guys unless you want Metro. Seems like a gimmick version for PC Users, with the 'touch screen' at the forefront, I can't see how they intend to keep us loyal, but who knows, I don't know an awful lot about it compared to previous versions, just that nothing has been heralded for us usual PC users thus far.
It seems Microsoft have acknowledged my own forthcomings on Windows 8 for the PC consumer, http://www.zdnet.com/blog/bott/microsof ... vista/4529 , They've doubled all support from 5 years to 10, maybe they're not expecting Windows 7 guys to upgrade so much?

Re: Windows 8
windows in past years
1 shit release, 1 good release and repeat
3.1 good, 95 crap
98 good NT crap
2000 good, ME crap
XP good, Vista crap
W7 good, W8 will be crap
i really dont want all my interfaces crashing, i dont own a wireless mouse or keyboard cus i prefer direct interfaces so adding some shit kinect or touch screen interface seems stupid.
Its a direct go at microsoft becoming apple and i dont like apple either

Re: Windows 8
Yeah, I remember skipping 2K/ME and going straight to XP.
I realised I no longer user my laptop for anything, so I'm putting the preview version on there. Rumour has it that it has lesser requirements and CPU/RAM usage than 7, if it does, may be worth an upgrade for lower spec systems. I'll give my totally biased, crass, cynical and generally negative swayed opinion in a week or so. So if I end up finding good stuff, it'll be have to be bleedin' good.

I also have a windows Phone, and rumour has it you can cloud shit with it. If so, that may be useful for my studies and e-mail. Let's hope so, but that's not worth £80.

Re: Windows 8
They will charge people $15 to upgrade to Windows 8 before some 2013 date.
I won't be however upgrading, most likely harvest the installation for another machine.
I think I'll be stuck with Windows 7 for the next 6 years because I see no point upgrading from a PC to a non-portable "mobile" phone.
