Well we are into the 15th year of CiC (14 last November) and well I thought I would write something on to the forums with a "Get involved" or "CiC needs you!" theme.
So what do you get out of joining the CiC Clan/Community/bunch of friends? Well what i got was
Computer knowledge on servers, both windows and linux - installing and maintaining, scripting (Bat and Bash) scheduled tasks and crons, process management including screens and accelerating FPS and core stability, hardware and software, security and access, accounts and ...... well you get it a lot of stuff.
Website building, adjusting, look and feel, HTML4, HTML5, CSS, CSS4, JS, Jquery, PHP (enough to piss George off at least), SQL, MYSQL, Flat file databases, about 20 CMS, social media, RSS, ICal, advertising and analytics, what works and what doesn’t and how a community uses (or doesn’t) what you build.... and a load of other things too.
Computers at home, Windows 1, 1.1, 95, 95sp2, 98, 98sp2, 2000, Vista, Windows 8, 32 and 64 bit, memory adjustments in power and speed, tweaking and gaining power from what i have, graphics cards, I/O, northbridge, southbridge, heating, fans, power, drive space, networks, hostmasks, IP's, routers, firewalls, software, opensource, freeware, spyware, malware, virus shields, MP3, video players, trying to diagnose Balloons latest weirdness over mumble (not another chocolate digestive).
The knowledge i got doing things in/around CiC and Wireplay and CableInet and Barrysworld and Blueyonder and and and and... well it got me a job so it actually made me money in the end.
Friends - you should know there is no difference between online and real life, the internet is a meeting place and so once a year CiC gives me.... well several days of cleaning followed by several days of hangover and more than just a bit of fun and good memories. I have met 1000's of people over the internet over time and between the people i know we pushed technology use and the way it gets used (including what kids are trying to claim as their own now with text speak - LoL fail) we followed trends and set some, we had fun and tears and i had support through marriage, divorce, flooding and dealing with death and I have watched several people grow into adults (finally on the Kop front) with some quiet young ladies who couldn’t talk on mumble getting to singing on mumble and I have been to watch some get married or to turn 30 and see CiC babies and children grow up.
Being part of CiC you get to help and be helped, a place to visit where there is a friendly chair and some piss taking chat, where everyone is welcome (mostly but we do let Thaldarin in so we are quite forgiving) and people to help comment on life, love and the pursuit of happiness.
Oh yes, and there’s always games!
So what do you get when you get involved... well the world of possibility.
Thanks to all who donate time or money or their knowledge into the community and lets hope next year is even better than the last 14.

Re: CiC Christmas 2013
For those who remember me, i've learnt that I was a lot better at FPS games when I was younger than I am now!
Merry Christmas to all.

Re: CiC Christmas 2013
Well then...
I've been mocked, beaten, raped (yes Siege there are still photos!), beaten some more, attempted rape (yes qwerty I mean you and your sleeping bag - again, photos!)
On top of that I have been given the opportunity to develop my knowledge on things I already know, learn new skills, helped run servers and try to maintain them.
You know what, balls to it...
I've done loads and I've bloody loved doing it with friends!! You guys are great and although I'm not on that much these days you are all still in my thoughts and I do check up on here if there is anything I can fix or add.
I hope you all had a merry Xmas and enjoy the new year!
Muchos love!
George!

Over the past 5 years I have been to a few meets, met some wonderful people had good laughs and made many memories. I even had that attempt to make a TF2 team something i never thought i would get the chance to do we may not have got any where but i got some leadership skills from that.
I have been able to share my lovely daughter growing up, have seen a wonderful wedding happen that i was glad to be a part of and yeh enjoyed every minute thanks CiC

Re: CiC Christmas 2013
I've been thrown from community to community and at CiC I've felt most welcome.
CiC has a brilliant out-reach on any sort of video game, if there was ever a point where I would want a game to play and someone to play it with, there is also someone in a hand reach to ask. Everyone here has been friendly and I know that some people have had issues with me in the past but I'm glad that we are moving on as a community, accepting apologises and leaving that sort of stuff in the past.
CiC has been a site where I can post my interests, share my knowledge and let others reach me in methods such as playing servers that I provide. Everyone has been accepting.
I know I very often come along to the Mumble server but it's been very weird lately to try connect and communicate with others.
I do expect a new change of CiC in the up coming years and I am more than happy to become a helping hand and part of it.

Re: CiC Christmas 2013
I've felt very welcomed by CiC over the last year or so.
For me it's just nice to have people to chat to on mumble in the evenings while enjoying a game or two.
Whether it's ramming/trolling Kop by driving into him with my tank, or saying how filthy Chris's chopper windows are with zombie spunk on dayz:x I've really enjoyed hanging out with you guys.
Cheers,
Smock
p.s. other highlights include:
making hidden chambers underneath peoples houses in minecraft, then filling them with noisy chickens
Siege failing miserably to walk through a door in saints row 4
Balloon noobing stuff up but not caring a **** (and his swearing)
Kingys extensive knowledge of pretty much everything (especially tanks)
Watching ned fail/fall off a roof in dayz origins, then dissapear into a wall
There are loads of others of course
