Hi Guys and Girls.
Went on your server the other day and really enjoyed myself! How did you manage to add those extra vehicles on the epoch server? Would anyone be willing to help me?
Just trying to get my sons server working as he cant get any help anywhere. All he seems to come to is the fact that the clients need the vehicle downloaded before which obviously not the case.
Would appreciate any help.

We actually used the DayZ vehicle list as there are so many and none are modded or addons so don't need dling you just need to try to make sure if any are armed they are whitelistes in BES/BEC so you don't repeatedly get kicked.
If you can ask specific questions we can try to help on each point as you go and it also makes a nice guide for others to give it a go too.

easiest way to look through vehicles is to install the new admin mod as you can spawn a heap and see what they are like, i will post what we have as of a way of instructions at the weekend no worries.

yeh theres a nice admin tool which allows you to spawn more than just the epoch vehicles but also include epoch mod menus, its really cool as we just switched to it from the old epoch admin tool which i think is a default install with several of the GSP people.
How much have you done so far and how much do you know about the structure etc?
What map you using too?
i would say it took 3 of us around 2 weeks to get our server running and has required several days of work each month from several people to add the AI, vehicles, economy trading etc
and then as i am more web based we added the extra websites for stats and trading prices which are linked from the forums.
i will try to get Rob to shout which admin tool we installed recently but it is definitely worth looking at the vehicles as some of them can do really huge damage with their guns to things like bases which is why we haven't added them all to normal spawns or traders and also added the trader for people who donate so the big weapons are closely monitored and if anything really bad happens we can find ot who and when so we can roll back.
Epoch has been one of the steepest learning curves i have ever done for community servers and i have been doing them for 14 years so be warned it isn't for the faint hearted.
Maybe Kroenen and Rob can shout up, i will kick them a bit to see if we can get some sober help in here - yay tequila!

Okay that would be great if you could show us what admin tool you are using! Would be really handy to know so i can finally start playing around with it! Also theres the task of actually allowing them on the server which ive got to look at too. That could be a challenge in itself surely!
Im using chenarus as its probably the best for us atm.
Also i hear that dayz commander is shutting and we've all got to go through arma 2! what a pain in the arse that will be ey!

dayz commander going steam according to their developers due to gamespy shutting - was never a fan of them
Allow on to the server, are you hosting privately?
CiC server is £26 a month although we do have a private local one on people machines for development as its just easy to get it hosted.
If you are hosting on machine at home then its just some port forwarding stuff which is an area i am pretty much a professional at (joke as its one of the things i do for a living) so should be easy

No im hosting with vilayer. Seems to be pretty good and cheap ish. Okay well fingers crossed you can find out that tool as it would be really handy.

you will probably need some or all of the following:
TexView2 - creates the correct format of image files for things like squad tags and any texture/item images
PBO Manager - all the Arma 2 files that arent just plain text (i would recommend Notepad ++ for them) are PBO which is a strange Java like compressed file format so you have to break them open and add/remove/adjust files within them then repack and upload.
i definitely would recommend WinSCP as an FTP client and use your ftp access to the server and avoid using the web interfaces to do anything other than restarts etc
