Post by red_ned »

A man struggling with his faith is haunted by the sins of his past but is suddenly thrust into the role of defending humanity from the gathering forces of darkness.

5 or 6 episodes are out so far and i reallly kind of enjoy it, its like a cross between Haven and Sherlock.
Its not the best thing ever made or anything but it has some pretty good plots and acting and fills a space for my love of Si-Fi.

Its well worth giving a go

Would it surprise you to learn that it's a DC Comics property and is actually part of their comic book universe? :D

John Constantine has featured alongside Batman and Superman before. In the first episode they even showed Fate's helmet, who is a very power superhero.... dunno much about him but i know the helmet is supposed to be iconic.

The character originally appeared in The Swamp Thing comics and was popular enough to do it's own thing.

imo the only reason this got made is because Marvel are making Doctor Strange as a film in 2016, which is their own paranormal superhero type, and Constantine is DC Comic's version of that, so they are trying to get in there first, and since Constantine already failed as a movie (2005 i think, starring Keanu Reeves), they decided to do it for TV.

Tbh, i like this, not the greatest show in the world but it shows a lot of potential and imo it's better than Gotham. Arrow started off slow and dull with self contained stories, which is similar to Constantine, and now Arrow is on season 3 and it's one of my fav shows thats on at the moment, so i can only see Constantine getting better.

:3.0:

For now only a 3 star because it could be better... i can see me giving it more when it develops pastthe self contained story stage that each episode seems to have.

HOWEVER

This TV series is supposed to have 24 episodes. In the later half of the season the sets are episodes are supposed to take place in Hell... would cost alot to make etc etc.... But.... In the USA TV series are filmed in 2 halves and have a mid season break, so only 13 episodes are filmed.... and filming has halted... This TV series is currently in limbo. It's not getting the ratings that they thought it was going to get and is actually doing poorly enough for the high ups to consider cancelling it. Why waste money on expensive effects when ratings get worse and worse each week right?

Sometimes TV Networks take a chance on shows, especially NBC which this series airs on. NBC did The Office (US version) and that did poorly in rating for 2 seasons but lasted like 10 seasons and made a household name out of Steve Carrell......... sadly though, expect this show to get cancelled.
