A friends son is doing a gaming design course and is struggling with 3D studio Max and modelling in general.
Anyone have hints/tips or links to things that could help?
Looking for shortcuts, tips, how-to's etc
cheers

Re: 3D modelling advice
if he's just starting out then can't go wrong with watching youtube tutorial videos tbh. just follow them to the letter even if they get as boring as hell. Having a second monitor and watching them on that while using 3dsmax at the same time couldn't hurt either.
my experience with that generally comes from just the animation stuff... the models i've used to animate were made by others. But i'm told it's alot like mapping, as your just using objects to create what you want, and so the best thing to do is just to make as many things as possible to get your experience up.
I may need some models making for a sourcefilm maker idea that i have
so if he wants a list of things to make, to give him direction, i can give him a todo list
