A message from our Server Provider

Post by red_ned »

The machine your server is hosted on is due to be retired as part of our hardware replacement cycle.
Therefore we will need to move your server to another machine.

As we no longer provide DayZ services from our UK location, we can migrate your server to our Northern France location.
This location offers excellent network links to the UK and in our experience is as good as a UK based location.

The machine your service will be moved to is of the same specification as the current one.
Apart from a change in IP address and port number, there will be no difference in the service.

The move is scheduled for Friday 7th November at 9AM. The move should take no longer than 4 hours.
In the event of a delay, we will contact you with any further information we have at that time.

If you have any further questions, please get in touch with us.

Regards
XstreamGaming
Ok so don't panic, our IP will be changing but i decided to try to make a new server with the same mods and import all the current data.
As the new provider has 95% of our scripts already bundled i am hoping to make the server over the next couple of days and make it the same as current server but fixing the current bugs on the new box as i go.
I may need people to give it a test but i will import the full data once we are ready to switch.
The current server will be passworded and used as the test server until it runs out on the 26th Nov and we will be on a new shiny, and i hope bug free, server.

I will announce everything as it becomes available through all social media, forums and steam.

Sorry for the pain in the ass move but I wanted to sit and fix AI and a few other things and now i just build it fresh and we can all move and hopefully people will find it better.

cheers

so is the server starting fresh? or did i misread that and you mean it's just going to be a new server, everyones stuff will remain the same etc.

for the old server maybe we should do some sort of send off and couple it up with CiC's birthday ;)

Good luck with all the work.

Can I just ask if the new server will be in the UK and who it will be with - GTXGaming perhaps?

we are currently with xstreamgaming.net and the best fit i could find to keep the server in the UK was with gamingdeluxe
Always a pain to work out differences etc and how to rebuild but we will see

We will strive to keep CiC Gaming servers hosted in the UK where possible. The options being considered would give a server with most of the mods on a 1-click install whereas on the current server it's all been manual.
The database will be transferred to the new server so technically there should be minimal disruption, simply a new IP address.

This will need everyone's help to launch the new ip and pass it to any friends you know who play the game and/or play the current CiC server.
We will be making it well known on the Forums and Website so we are hoping our current player base will all move with us.

Any questions - ask Ned <3
