Largest CPU & Heatsink unveiled
So the worlds "largest CPU and heatsink" was unveiled today in a place in the outback in America. I think it's really impressive, the computer it must be running must be super duper.

a telescope i would believe as i've seen similar pictures before and also it's angled like a telescope would be... doesn't make any logical sense for a heatsink to be angled like that, since after all, heat travels up, so why would you build a heatsink that big only for most of the heat to be absorbed by one side.

It doesn't really validate it, but the larger something is, the more effective air cooling is.

yeah but wind doesn't travel in one direction and although you can see the turn table it doesn't make sense to have a turn table for a heat sink as it won't be connected properly to the thing that it's trying to absorb the heat fromKop wrote:coz there is alot of sidewind out there nag, duh

well you would always turn the heat sink to face down wind otherwise it wouldn't work if it blew hot air into the wind as it would blow straight back in and not cool so you would need a turntable as the wind changes directions, but you could make the base out of copper with a large spindle so there is a large surface contact area which could dissipate the heat, although you may need quite a lot of heat paste mixed with some sort of lube.
we should try this at the meet up i think it could work, we could finally heat sink all the hot air from kop
