I dont know what has happened to the website today yet, i have logged a call but basically all the files were moved from the public html cos folder to one called "_contact_support_htdocs".
Error logs show some really odd activity which looks like an attempted direct sql inject attack but i am no expert on this so we have made forums live again and i will be backing all files up from the web space over night.

As yet i have not retrieved all data but i have staged backups from the last 2 years, i am also exporting all databases to store as backups.
If they have suspended dueto the cic webspace taking up what could be called "a shitload of space" i will be removing old demos until it shrinks to a tolerated level but i would be pissed if they did this due to having no warning.

So to sum up, i will have everything and nothing will be lost but it will take most of the night to get it all and i will have to do all the databases on friday night.

when i was with streamline, they said it was unlimited space and bandwidth, and the max bandwidth being used was 200gb a month :S, so should be no problems. I do know though that they have the gay rule of no music file and archive files, or anything that makes the webspace to be a file server... how someone got 200gb without these kinds of files is beyond me, but maybe they found a file that they don't agree with? because they have a "remove without warning policy" as well.

The above reasons are some of the main reasons why i left streamline hosting, because they don't let you see this info until you signup with them, in the control panel.

There is also a possibility about ToS ("terms of service" for those who dunno) breaking that i justr thought of. The night before this happened, i uploaded sieges new map to the fast download bit of the ftp. the map is called "cp_boobs". It's a .bsp file so maybe they dunno what it is and therefore this it's an archieve file like a zip file, and think it's porn because of the name of the file, and thats why it flagged up. gutted if this is the reason, but at least you know that you can blame siege and also that streamline remain to be utter runts

websites back online as i had no reply, although i have archived old tfc and ff demosonto my computer. also i bz2 the map dls for the server should still dl when people join but being half the size should reduce the website, along with demos, reduce websize by 800+ meg. vz2 files will work just like .dem on fast dl.

so i replied

the site DOES NOT contain irc bots, it does have a java irc client through the web page, and you only bothered to inform me of anything 2 days after moving my files even after i asked.
Could you confirm that you do not allow the java irc client or have you mis-diagnosed it? again it is only a java client not a bot.

please inform me immediately so i can make a choice, this client has been active for a year without any issues.

trouble is i have had very little issues with streamline before now and they are really cheap compared to anyone else will to provide unlimited space (we use 2gig+) and 10 sql tables and unlimited email bouncers.
But if anyone has suggestions for similar providers for about 60quid a year then please tell me.

not rss, looks like they think the java basedirc client is a bot. wierd cus its a very standard kind of script but i am waiting for them to decide what they object to, for now i have left the java client in the moved offline folder, i may move it to another webspace but would prefer to keep all cic stuff on its own server

ah, you finally find out the joys of streamline. i had all this shit a while back when i used to go with them.

anyway, through my own research in the past, dunno if it's still true today, but fasthosts.co.uk (might just be fasthost i forget) sell space to streamline and streamline resell, or streamline have some kind of deal with fasthosts, because back in the day, they had exactly the same website and content, just it was visually different. They have so many restrictions in the fine print which they only show you after signup... they justify this because your first 3 months are free and you can cancel no questions asked if you wanna.

My current hosting is ... i dunno, i'm at work atm and can't check the exact name. it's american, but i got when exchange rate was £1 - $2, so dunno if it's cost effective now, but basically they give unlimited everything and let you do what you want. The control panel is a bit meh if you ask me, cos some things seem a bit hidden, like the php4 or php5 toggle options, and when i started out, their hosting had some proformance issue, which have never happened again since (had em for like 8 months now). As i recall, you get unlimited mysql databases also

i thought it was http://www.ez-web-hosting.com but looking at their packages, they don't have unlimited bandwidth, so isn't these guys, i had them after streamline, and while they were hugely better than streamline, they wouldn't upgrade to php5 and also lack of unlimited bandwidth was a pain, as it closed my site down a couple of times when my mod was released due to maxing out bandwidth.

i'll look what my current one is when i get home (or remind me if i forget), that is, if you are seriously planning to change hosts. but as i have always said, streamline is shit

The site was taken down once again by the host. I do believe now it was the IRC client. I have made it active once again, but this time with only the forums to ensure we still have this way of communicating.

i didnt put the irc client back on the site so it wasnt active however they still havnt replied to any of my tickets and i got this today for the latest move:

Please check through your logfiles to see the compromise.

Once you have located the source of the issue and removed it you will then be free to rename the htdocs folder back.

This is the 3rd time you have moved files, i can see nothing in the logs or anything on the site which is a bot, there was a java based irc client for people to connect to quakenet but no bots ever have been on the site since its start.
Please reply this time and tell me what you think is a bot as i already removed the java irc client and have no clue at all what you think is a bot.
PLEASE PLEASE REPLY FOR ONCE.
